Patrick William Dryz was born in the Midwestern college town of Lawrence, Kansas on October 17th, 1974. He was inspired by Saturday morning cartoons at a very early age to make art out of wood, cardboard, and paper. Over the years his mediums have evolved into charcoal, ink, and acrylic on canvas.
Patrick’s talent for drawing, painting, and rendering from life first began to emerge in elementary school. These skills continued to develop through Junior and Senior High school, inspired by various fantasy illustrators, Renaissance Masters, movies, and graphic novels. Influences form this time include Frank Frazetta, HR Giger, Louis Royo, Brom, and Caravaggio. During these years he won awards in several art competitions. Throughout his collegiate years, Patrick gleaned new inspiration from the likes of Picasso, Dali, and Kandinsky.
Patrick has spent most of his life working various blue collar jobs and raising a most lovely and brilliant daughter. During those years he received his formal art education and performed guitar and vocals in a band or two. In addition to traditional fine art, Patrick has also studied film making, digital art, animation, and game design.
